USEFUL INFORMATION
prior to your arrival to Baani Lodge
Upon your arrival at the airport in Male, you will meet a member of our staff carrying our Baani logo.
In the unlikely event that you do not find him, you can contact Laura or Maura or via Whatsapp Shuja at this number: +960 798-2897.
On the plane before arrival they will give you the form to fill in for the VISA.
You need to include the following data:
- Your personal data (first name, last name, nationality, birthplace, birth date, gender, passport expiry date)
- The address of EDEN BAANI FELIDHOO VAAVU ATOLL
- Days of stay
- Flight number
- Purpose of your visit: HOLIDAY/VACATION
- Your signature
In the last part (for the customs) of the form you need to indicate if you carry any item with a value above €400, items with commercial value and if you carry currency for more than 10,000$ (if you do, you must declare it).
IMMIGRATION CARD
Before your trip you need to complete the immigration form on the link below. This needs to be completed within 24 hours prior to departure. On the plane they should hand out the immigration cards to be filled in before landing and hand out at the immigration desk.

INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT
At departure check-in your luggage will be sent directly to the final destination (Male). We recommend to check that on the labels which are put on your luggage you see the code MLE (Male). The same on the return flight, you should check that the final destination code is on your luggage to ensure it is checked in to your arrival airport.

WEB CHECK-IN
On the website of each airline you can do your online check-in 48 or 24 hours before the departure time and up to 2 hours before your departure (this vary according to the airline rules).
You can choose your seat, do your check-in and save the e-boarding pass to show at the airport.
In case of delay or problems with your arrival flight please inform Laura or Maura (via SMS or whatsapp message) and/or our staff (Shuja +960 798-2897).
DOCUMENTS NEEDED TO ENTER THE COUNTRY
Electronic Passport with an expiry date not earlier than 6 months after return date. Since January 5, 2016, in order to enter the Maldives, you need a electronic passport. For “electronic passport” is meant a passport with microchip.
Please check your own country regulations for young international travelers.
Please check the validity of your passport.
The tourist Visa is mandatory. It is valid for thirty days and it is released directly at the airport upon arrival.
IMPORTANT
Your stay in the Maldives can be very enjoyable if you respect few rules of good behavior and common sense. It is recommended to know the local customs in order to avoid any kind of problems.
- The Maldives are a Muslim country, it is therefore mandatory to respect the laws and regulations dictated by the Islamic religion.
- Topless and nudity is forbidden. When on local and inhabited islands women should wear trousers or skirts to cover their knees and always cover their shoulders. There are beaches for tourists where you can wear your bikini.
- It is forbidden to import pork meat or sausage as well as alcoholic drinks.
- Upon departure it is strictly forbidden to export seashells, sand, corals and turtle artifacts. At the airport very thorough controls are performed to avoid any forbidden item to leave the archipelago. In the case that the police should find any forbidden item in your luggage, you will have to pay a high fine and the items will be confiscated.
- We kindly ask you to be very careful when in water, both when scuba diving or while snorkeling, in order to avoid to damage or break the corals.
- We advise not to touch anything, not even with gloves, in order to avoid any problem or injure (the corals are very sharp and could be poisonous or stinging).
- Fishing with water-rifle or other weapon is strictly forbidden.
PAYMENT and DEPARTURE from the Island
All payment for all the extras can be made in Dollars (USD), in Euro or in Maldivian Ruffias. Your payment should be settled the latest on the evening before the departure with our Manager on site. Our staff will communicate the check-out time, when you need to leave your room, and the appointment to go on the boat for your transfer to the airport.
We kindly remind you that you will have to settle on site the Green Government Tax of 3 euro per night per person for every guest.
PHONE and INTERNET coverage
At the exit of the arrival lounge at the airport, after collecting your luggage and once you met our staff, you can buy a Maldivian SIM at the Dhiraagu phone shop on your right at the exit (National phone company).
At Baani Lodge you will enjoy free Wi-Fi in the restaurant area.
Please note that we do not have any TV.
The Wi-Fi is meant to connect with your family at home, send emails but NOT to download heavy documents or films.
You CANNOT use the Wi-Fi for live streaming.
